Description
This is a rare 1920s United States Army marksman badge for Pistol-D by J.R. Gaunt of England. Pistol-D (D is for dismounted) is a qualification for marksmen showing competency in the operation of a pistol along with demonstrated accuracy and safety. The badge is a wreathed Knight's Cross with a bull's-eye at its center and a bar hanging below reading PISTOL-D.
VINTAGE:Circa 1920s.
SIZE:Approximately 1-13/16" in height and 1-3/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plated brass, brass pin.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal pin with C catch; chain links and suspension loops to bar.
MARKINGS:J.R. GAUNT & SON NEW YORK and MADE IN ENGLAND (listed twice).
