Description
This is a rare circa 1928 hat badge for the Garde d'Haiti, worn by United States Marines stationed in Haiti during this time. Known as the Gendarmerie d'Haiti for the preceding twelve years, in 1928 the force was renamed the Garde d'Haiti. The United States occupied Haiti starting in 1915 to safeguard American business interests on the island and remained there long after the Paris Peace Treaty of 191The badge has a great design showing flags, cannons and a palm tree with a single helmet at its peak.
VINTAGE:Circa 1928.
SIZE:Approximately 1-9/16" in height and 1-11/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plated brass.
ATTACHMENT:Single screw post, disc backing, stabilization post.
