ARTIFACT:

This is a jacket patch for the United States Army Air Forces 58th Wing, 509th Composite Group/509th Bomb Group Jacket Patch for Nuclear Test Operation Crossroads. The group conducted the "e;Operation Crossroads"e; atomic bomb tests at the Bikini Atoll. There is a mushroom cloud at the center of the patch.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1946.

SIZE:

Approximately: 4-7/8" in diameter.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Cotton embroidery thread on cotton twill.

To be sewn on.
