ARTIFACT:
This is a jacket patch for the United States Army Air Forces 58th Wing, 509th Bomb Group. The group conducted the "e;Operation Crossroads"e; atomic bomb tests at the Bikini Atoll. There is a mushroom cloud at the center of the patch.
VINTAGE:
Circa 1946.
SIZE:
About 4-3/4" in diameter.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Cotton embroidery thread on cotton twill.
ATTACHMENT:
To be sewn onto garment.
