This is a circa 1870s CDV (carte de visite) photograph of a Boston, Massachusetts police officer. The officer's hat badge number 237 shows up quite well in the photo. The CDV was a small photograph patented by French photographer André Disdéri. CDVs were fashionable from the mid-1850s until into the 1870s.
VINTAGE:Circa 1870's.
SIZE:Approximately 2-7/16" in width x 4-1/8" in height.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Photograph on thick card stock.
