ARTIFACT: This is a very nice copy of "Get Tough! How to Win in Hand-to-Hand Combat Fighting" by Captain W.E. Fairbairn. Fairbairn began his service in the British Armed Forces in 1901. He also became a police officer, worked for the British Secret Service, became a black belt and trained Canadian, American and British Commandos during World War II. Among other weapons and weapons techniques, he and a colleague developed the Fairbanks-Sykes fighting knife, also known as the commando knife or stiletto. Its uses are outlined in this book with the aid of detailed black-and-white illustrations. This copy was inscribed by the original owner, Ron Rawson, in October 1942. It is possible that this is the Ron Rawson of boxing fame from the United Kingdom, who also earned a Military Cross during his British Armed Forces service. The book was published in 1942 by the D. Appleton-Century Company.
