ARTIFACT:
This is an inscribed, first edition hardcover copy of "Bail Out over North Africa: America's First Parachute Combat Missions 1942", by Lieutenant General William P. Yarborough. Yarborough, also known as "The Father of the Green Berets", was commander of the United States Army 509th Parachute Infantry Battalion (PIB) during World War II. His book documents the perilous activities of the 509th. Attached to the 5th Air Force. The 509th was the first group to make a combat drop during the North Africa invasion. The book is inscribed to Maurice F. Reardon. photographs. The book was printed by Phillips Publications of New Jersey in 1979.
