Description
This is a numbered membership badge or medal for the Grand Army of the Republic (GAR), a fraternal organization for the Union veterans of the Civil War. The badge has a decorative eagle bar at top and its medallion is a five-pointed star. The back of the medallion shows an interesting design of all the Army Corps symbols radiating out from a crest with stars and stripes. It hangs from a ribbon in the design and colors of the American flag.
VINTAGE:Circa 1900.
SIZE:Approximately 3-3/8" in height and 1-3/4" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Bronze, silk.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal pin with C catch, ribbon.
MARKINGS:B63888 along edge.

CONDITION:7+ (Very Fine+): The medal has some light wear and tarnish and there was a later repair done to the ribbon.
