Description
This is an early, numbered Grand Army of the Republic (GAR) member medal with a ribbon in the design and colors of the American flag. The badge has a decorative eagle bar at top in an early style in which the eagle"s head resembles that of a dove, and its medallion is a five-pointed star. The back of the medallion shows an interesting design of all the Army Corps symbols radiating out from a crest with stars and stripes.
VINTAGE:Circa 1870s.
SIZE:3-7/16" height and 1-3/4" width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plated brass and red, white and blue silk ribbon.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal pin with 'C' catch.
MARKINGS:R115V2 on edge of star.

CONDITION:6+ (Fine-Very Fine): Heavy wear and fading to ribbon and moderate wear and a handsome patina on badge.
