Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a nice, early Grand Army of the Republic medal from the 19th National Encampment at Portland, Maine. An eagle tops the medal and the medallion has a star design at center with detailed vine decoration. The medal reads FRATERNITY CHARITY LOYALTY and on the reverse shows the seal of the State of Maine.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1885.

SIZE:

Approximately 2-1/4" height and 1-1/2" width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Brass eagle and aluminum medallion.

ATTACHMENT:

Horizontal pin with "C" catch.

CONDITION:

8- (Excellent): Medal shows light to medium wear and the eagle portion is moderately tarnished.
