ARTIFACT: This is a Spanish-American War badge for the Vermont National Guard, 1st Regiment. The insignia is enameled in a lovely blue reads FIRST REGIMENT V.N.G. FREEDOM AND UNITY with a buck's head at center.

VINTAGE: Circa Spanish-American War.

SIZE: 7/8" diameter with slight jutting out at bottom.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Gold with enameling.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical T-style pin with "C" catch.

MARKINGS: M. COMPANY E.H. PROUTY.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a United States Army collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. ebay VFJL97 LAIEX 7/10

CONDITION: 8+ (Excellent): Badge shows virtually no wear and has a beautiful lustre.
