Description
This is a National Guard of Pennsylvania 6th Infantry grouping from the Spanish-American War. The grouping consists of two marksman medals, one medal for service in the Spanish-American War, a hat badge, a lapel stud for veterans and a chevron. The Spanish-American War service medal has a bar that reads 1898 2ND CLASS MARKSMAN and an oval medallion that shows a soldier and reads N.G.P. The reverse of the medallion reads TO THE MARKSMEN OF NATIONAL GUARD OF PENNSYLVANIA WHO ENTERED UNITED STATES SERVICE IN WAR WITH SPAIN 189The marksman medal has three bars for the years 1895-1897 and a medallion that reads MARKSMAN'S BADGE encircling a keystone and the flag of the State of Pennsylvania. The reverse of the badge reads NGP. There is another identical marksman badge without any bars. The hat badge is a set of two crossed rifles with the number The veterans lapel stud is cross-shaped and reads UNITED SPANISH WAR VETERANS 1898-1902.
VINTAGE:Circa Spanish-American War.
SIZE:Medals, badges and stud are various sizes; chevron is about 6-1/2" in height and 10-1/4" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Medals and stud are bronze; hat badge is plated brass and chevron is wool embroidered in cotton/wool threads.
ATTACHMENT:Horizontal pins on medal and badges (except for one marksman badge with no attachment save a few chain links); stud on lapel stud.

CONDITION:7- (Very Fine-): Items are in various conditions but overall are very fine. The hat badge is missing its catch and the letter which would have denoted the unit; one of the marksman medals is not on a bar; chevron has moderate wear and one spot where wool is missing.
