Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a rare circa mid-late 1930s Romanian Air Force officer sword with a very cool King Carol II cypher. The sword comes in its original leather scabbard with beautifully engraved copper-plated bands bearing winged propellers. The end of the scabbard is capped in a similarly handsome fashion. The grip is celluloid wrapped in brass wire and the pommel is a fantastic eagle's head with red eyes. The guard is ornate. The blade is bright and bears the cypher of King Carol, who II ruled Romania from 1930 until 1940, when he went into exile in Mexico, and later, Portugal. The blade also shows a central winged propeller, as well as the word Solingen. The sword was made by German maker Carl Eichorn.
