ARTIFACT:

This is a 1966 horse track official badge for the Freehold Raceway in Freehold, New Jersey. The raceway has been running since 1853 and has both thoroughbred and harness racing. The badge shows a horse and rider running beneath a black horseshoe and reads OFFICIAL on a banner at the bottom. The badge has a low number (15) on reverse.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1966.

SIZE:

Approximately 1-1/8" in height and 7/8" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Gilt brass, enamel.

ATTACHMENT:

Single post with clutch-back.

MARKINGS:

1966; 15 on reverse.
