Lovely 10K New York New Haven & Hartford (NYNH&H) Railroad 40 Yr. Service Pin w/ Sapphire

This is a 10 karat gold pin that was given to an employee with 40 years of service by New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad (N.Y., N.H. & H.) The N.Y., N.H. & H operated from 1872 until 196The pin is the shape of the front of the train's engine coming full steam ahead and reads THE NEW YORK NEW HAVEN AND HARTFORD RAILWAY CO. 40 YEARS. A sapphire chip serves as the train's headlight.

Circa 1940s.

About 11/16" in height and 7/16" in width.

10 karat gold with black enamel and sapphire.

Single screw post with disc backing.

Unidentified diamond-shaped maker's mark and 10K.
