Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a circa late 1960s jacket patch for the United States Air Force 478th Tactical Fighter Squadron, also known as the "Green Foxes". One of the initial fighter squadrons deployed during the Vietnam War, the 478th was assigned to Takhli AF, Thailand in 196Called back to the States in 1965 to provide air defense of Florida in the wake of the Cuban Missile Crisis, the 478th returned to Southeast Asia for 1969-1970. The patch is fully embroidered and features a Robin Hood-esque fox about to hurl a red missile.

VINTAGE:

Circa late 1960s.

SIZE:

Approximately 4-3/8" in height and 3-3/4" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Fully embroidered in cotton/silk/polyester threads, muslin backing.
