Description
Large WWII Plaster ID Model of a United States Navy LST. This example of a plaster Landing Ship Tank (LST) is painted gray with the letters 'LST' painted in white. The LST was introduced in 1943 and were instrumental as floating hospitals, transporting large armored vehicles, loads of cargo, troops, and used cranes to deliver ammunition on shore. In Kentucky, buildings were built to the specifications of the LSTs so troops could learn to navigate their vehicles in and out, one has been preserved at Fort Knox. Forty-eight were turned into hospitals and all LSTs were vital in WWII operations such as those at Solomon Islands, Normandy, as well as efficiently traveling from island to island in the Pacific Theater.

CONDITION:6+ (Fine&emdash;Very Fine): LST shows moderate to heavy wear, much of the painted details remain intact.
