This is a Japanese-made distinctive insignia for the United States Army 31st Infantry Regiment. The DI is a polar bear, an insignia chosen for the regiment's original tour of duty in Siberia, and reads PRO PATRIA (for one's country).
VINTAGE:Circa Korean War.
SIZE:1-7/16" height and 1-1/8" width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plated brass with enamel.
ATTACHMENT:One post with clutch-back catch (one post missing).
ITEM NOTES:This is from a United States Army collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VEX05 LCJX10/10
CONDITION:7- (Very Fine-): DI has light wear only but is missing one post.
