Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a named ashtray from the Korean War era for the United States Navy's USS Wahoo (SS-565). The ashtray reads W.W. WINEBERG, ENG (SS), USN and LEADING ENGINEMAN around its edge, so Weinberg may have been the plank owner since the ashtray dates from around the time of the launching in 195The Wahoo was stricken from the US Naval Register in 198At the ashtray's center are engraved two dolphins and a ship.

Circa 1951.

SIZE:

Approximately 5-3/4" diameter and 7/8" thickness.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Stainless steel with painted lettering.
