Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a circa 1973 submarine patch for the United States Navy's USS Wahoo SS-565, the second submarine of this name, the first USS Wahoo being wrecked in the Pacific. The patch is from a cartoon drawn by Hank Ketchum of "Dennis the Menace" fame, and shows a sailor riding a reigned fish. The patch reads SS 565 U.S.S. WAHOO.

Circa 1973.

SIZE:

5" diameter.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Fully-embroidered black and white patch in multi-colored silk/cotton threads with a muslin backing.

ATTACHMENT:

To be sewn onto deck jacket.
