This is a rare island-made desk plaque for the United States Navy 90th Naval Construction Battalion, or "Seabees". Activated July 25, 1943, the 90th served in the Pacific Theatre. The island-shaped plaque is in heavy relief and was made at Iwo Jima in cast aluminum. The top part is quite raised and represents a volcano.
VINTAGE:Circa World War II.
SIZE:Approximately 5-3/8" in length and 3" in width and 1/2" in thickness.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Cast aluminum.
ATTACHMENT:Hole.
