Description

ARTIFACT:

This is great World War II USS Torsk (SS-423) crew member (and plank owner) ashtray of Chief Master Machinist's Mate Kenneth G. Rogers. The ashtray was made at the Portsmouth Naval Ship Yard where the Torsk was built. The Torsk is noted for firing the final torpedo and sinking the last Japanese combat vessel of World War II!

VINTAGE:

Circa World War II.

SIZE:

Approximately 5-1/4" in diameter and 1" in height.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Monel or nickel-plated brass with painted lettering.
