Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a great late 1960s promotional lighter by Penguin for Flying Tigers Airlines. Flying Tigers Airlines, originally the Flying Tiger Line, began in 1945 as the first commercial air cargo company in the US and later became military charter outfit until 198The enameled logo is a winged wheel with a capital T at the center, beautifully enameled in red and blue. The T is surrounded by a circular border similar to a camera shutter. It is in the 3rd Issue, Type II logo design.

VINTAGE:

Circa late 1960s.

SIZE:

Approximately 2-1/4" height and 1-1/2" width and " in thickness.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Chrome-plated brass with enamel, nickel insert.

ATTACHMENT:

Hinge.

MARKINGS:

HIGH QUALITY LIGHTER "PENGUIN" NO. 11957 JAPAN on bottom.
