This is a circa 1870s or 1880s messenger hat badge for the United States Express Company. The badge is numbered 3194 and is curved to fit the front of the hat. The badge shows a winged chest flying beneath a horseshoe.
VINTAGE:Circa 1870s-1880s.
SIZE:Approximately 2-3/16" in height and 4-3/4" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Brass.
ATTACHMENT:Two holes.
MARKINGS:None.
