ARTIFACT:
This is an extremely rare original May 1945 copy of the United States Army Air Forces 23rd Fighter Group unit history Three Years with the 23rd". Printed by the Office of the Historical Officer, this fourteen page unit history gives a concise account of the accomplishments of the unit and includes a kills roster at the back. Often seen as a Xeroxed copy - this is the original. The 23rd were successors to the famous American Volunteer Group, the "Flying Tigers" and was part of the famed China Air Task Force (which later evolved into the 14th Air Force) led by Brigadier General Claire Chennault and was made up of the 74th, 75th and 76th Fighter Squadrons.
