ARTIFACT:

What we have here is a concise grouping of extremely rare Early WWII USAAF Aviation Insignia.

Lieutenant Louis Charles Homfeld was a USAAF Aviation Cadet Early in 1942. He completed training later in 1942 and was shipped off to China to fly with the 76th Fighter Squadron, 23rd Fighter Group, China Air Task Force CATF.

This wonderful Grouping consists of Lt. Homfeld's 1942 USAAF Aviation Cadet Photo ID Badge, his Chinese Made Multi-Piece Leather Construction 76th Fighter Squadron Jacket Patch, and 23rd Fighter Group Jacket Patch, 2 Bullion Chinese Made China Air Task Force Shoulder Patches (one minty, one with some edge damage), a Bullion USAAF Shoulder Patch, and a Bullion CBI Shoulder Patch, both Chinese Made. Also included in this Grouping is a rare, early 1943 Pointie Talkie "Blood Chit" Booklet, produced in China by the Office of War Information & the 21st Photo Recon Squadron.

If we do not find a buyer for this Grouping in its entirety, we will sell the pieces separately at a later date, but we wanted to try to keep these artifacts together to start off. If purchased together, the sale will also include a 2012 letter from the AZ branch of the Commemorative Air Force CAF to Lt. Homfeld's widow, expressing their gratitude for her donation of his Flight Jacket(!!!) & other artifacts, a photo of the jacket, and a hand written list of Mrs. Homfeld's memory of Lt. Homfeld's duty stations, which is most likely incomplete.

CONDITION: 8- (Very Fine - Excellent): Very Fine to Excellent Overall. Leather Jacket Patches and undamaged Bullion CATF patch have light storage wear only, and would rate about 9- Excellent+ each. The Pointie Talkie also really only has storage wear, but a slight bit heavier, so I would rate that at 8 Excellent-. The Photo ID is made of 80 year old plastic, so I would rate it at 8- Very Fine - Excellent. The Bullion CBI & USAAF Shoulder Patches were both removed from a uniform, so I would rate them 7+ Very Fine+. Lastly, the Bullion CATF patch with edge damage I would rate at a 6 Fine+, but it will still display great.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
