The Journal-Sentinel (the name changed from the original Sentinel) is the largest Wisconsin newspaper and was once part of the William Randolph Hearst empire. This type of badge, known as a "fire line" badge, functioned as a press pass at fire scenes. It is in lovely cobalt blue enamel and shaped like a Maltese Cross, and is numbered 349.

VINTAGE: Circa early 1900s.

SIZE: Approximately 1-3/4" in height and 1-3/4" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Copper-plated brass with enamel, painted lettering.

ATTACHMENT: Vertical safety-style pin with oval saddle.

MARKINGS: None.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a newspaper collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VFEX12 LBCEX10/12 SAIJX6/13

CONDITION: 7- (Very Fine-): The badge has a small piece of enamel missing and a few bits of the painted lettering have worn away.
