This is a bronze medal made from the propeller of the USS Olympia (C-6), a United States Navy cruiser. The back of the medal reads MADE FROM PROPELLER OF ADMIRAL DEWEY'S FLAGSHIP WHICH SERVED IN THE BATTLE OF MANILA BAY MAY 1, 189The front of the medal is engraved with a quote of Admiral Dewey: "You may fire when you are ready, Gridley".
VINTAGE:Circa 1900s.
SIZE:Approximately 1-1/4" in diameter.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Bronze.
