This is an early submarine patch for the USS Lafayette (SSBN-616), the primary ship of her class of ballistic missile submarines. The Lafayette was launched from Groton, Connecticut on May 8, 1962, and christened by then-First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy. She was decommissioned in 1991.
VINTAGE:Circa 1965.
SIZE:Approximately 4-1/2" in diameter (not 100% round).
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Twill embroidered in cotton/polyester threads, mesh backing.
ATTACHMENT:None.

CONDITION:7- (Very Fine-): The patch shows some light wear and small areas of minor discoloration.
