Description
This is a submarine patch for the USS Greenling (SSN-614), a Thresher-class submarine. Following the April 1963 loss of the USS Thresher, the Greenling was modified and had a later than expected launch from Groton, Connecticut on April 4, 196She participated in the fruitless June 1968 search for the USS Scorpion, the only other nuclear sub to have been lost to the United States Navy. The Greenling was decommissioned in 1994.
VINTAGE:Circa 1980s.
SIZE:Approximately 4-1/4" in height and 6-1/4" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Fully embroidered in cotton/polyester threads.
