ARTIFACT:

This is a nicely enameled distinctive insignia for the United States Army 38th Infantry Regiment. The DI shows a rock with a broken chevron to symbolize the penetration of the German line by the 38th in World War I. The DI reads THE ROCK OF THE MARNE.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1950s.

SIZE:

Approximately 1-1/4" in height and 1-1/8" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Plated brass with enameled areas.

ATTACHMENT:

Vertical pin with come-under locking swivel catch.

MARKINGS:

None.

CONDITION:

8- (Very Fine-Excellent): The DI shows some light wear and discoloration to the reverse only; all enamel is intact.
