Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a named humane medal given to Dorothy E. Haskell in 1924 from the American Humane Education Society and the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The medal comes in its original case, and is engraved with the recipient's name and the presentation year.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1924.

SIZE:

Approximately 7/8" in height, 3-1/4" in width and 2-1/2" deep.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Velvet- and silk-lined leather case; gold-plated brass medal.

ATTACHMENT:

Locking clasp and two hinges on case; horizontal T-style pin with "C" catch on medal bar.

MARKINGS:

TO DOROTHY E. HASKELL 1924 engraved on reverse.
