Description

ARTIFACT:

This is an early officer badge for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. The badge shows an avenging angel staying the hand of a man beating a horse at center and reads THE AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR THE PREVENTION OF CRUELTY TO ANIMALS LICENSE 3 OFFICER.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1910s.

SIZE:

3-1/16" height and 2-1/16" width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Chrome-plated brass with painted lettering (would have been originally plated with nickel, but was refurbished in 1930s).

ATTACHMENT:

Vertical kick pin with drop-in locking swivel catch (refurbished in 1930s).
