Description
This is a circa 1920s chenille patch for the United States Volunteer Life Saving Corps (USVLSC) auxiliary. The USVLSC existed in fifteen states where there were no federally-run life-saving stations and acted to supplement the U. S. Life Saving Service. The patch is in wool felt with looped blue embroidery making up the oars and anchor of the design.
VINTAGE:Circa 1920s.
SIZE:Approximately 4-7/16" in height and 3-1/2" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Wool felt embroidered in looped cotton threads, muslin backing.
