Description

ARTIFACT:

This is a circa 1914 bronze sports medal for the United States Volunteer Life Saving Corps (USVLSC). The USVLSC existed in fifteen states where there were no federally-run life-saving stations and acted to supplement the U. S. Life Saving Service. The medal is engraved on reverse, and was for the winner of a 75 yard dash competition, Henrietta Van Twisk.

VINTAGE:

Circa 1914.

SIZE:

Approximately 1-13/16" in height and 1-1/8" in width.

CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:

Bronze, enamel.

ATTACHMENT:

Suspension loop.

MARKINGS:

75 YDS. DASH SEPT. '14 HENRIETTA VAN TWISK.
