ARTIFACT:
This is a circa 1900 United States Volunteer Lifesaving Corps (USVLSC) Lieutenant badge. The USVLSC existed in fifteen states where there were no federally-run life-saving stations and acted to supplement the U. S. Life Saving Service. The badge has a Frederick Leopold of Newark, New Jersey maker mark. It also numbered 1011 upon reverse. It has a great design involving an eagle perched upon an anchor with a life preserver and crossed oars in front.

Circa 1900.
SIZE:
Approximately 2-1/8" in height and 1-5/16" in width.
MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION:
Plated brass.

Vertical pin with C catch.
