This is a great circa 1900 United States Army 2nd Infantry Regiment spiked helmet plate. Spiked helmets became popular with the military of many nations, particularly within the last quarter of the nineteenth century. The plate shows an eagle perched upon two crossed rifles.
VINTAGE:Circa 1900.
SIZE:Approximately 4-1/2" in height by 3-3/4" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Gilt and plated brass.
ATTACHMENT:Prongs.
MARKINGS:None.
