Description
This is a 1949 Christmas celebration mug from the German Occupation period for the United States Air Force in Europe. The mug is for those stationed at the Frstenfeldbruck Air Base in Bavaria, Germany. Famous for being the primary Luftwaffe training spot, the Air Base was also the site of the 1972 "Munich Massacre": murders of some Israeli Olympic athletes and their coaches as well as a German police officer.
VINTAGE:Circa 1949.
SIZE:Approximately 4-3/4" in height and 3-11/16" in diameter (at base).
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Ceramic.
