Ca 1941 USN CPO (Chief Petty Officer) Hat Badge

This is a circa 1941 United States Navy CPO (Chief Petty Officer) hat badge. This badge has the letters "USN" mounted upon the anchor. The badge predates 1943, as it is made of gilt and silvered brass and brass was a controlled material from 1943 to the end of WWII. Also, per an addendum to the Navy Uniform Regs. of 1941, the fouling rope was changed to the chain, which also helps to date the anchor and overall piece.

Approximately 1-3/4" in height and 1-1/8" in width.

Gilt and plated brass.

Vertical pin with come-under locking swivel catch.
