ARTIFACT: This is an unidentified pin by Balfour that reads GANNETTS HIGH SKIES. The pin is aviation-related, with a winged propeller at its center, and seemingly also newspaper-related as there is what looks to be the front page of a newspaper behind the propeller. This pin is probably linked somehow to the huge Gannett Newspaper dynasty that began in 1906. Gannett's founder and namesake, Frank Gannett, was known for his philanthropy, in particular toward the aviation industry .

VINTAGE: Circa unknown.

SIZE: Approximately 13/16" in height and 1-3/16" in width.

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Plated brass.

ATTACHMENT: Single screw post with disc backing.

MARKINGS: L.G. BALFOUR CO. on backing.

ITEM NOTES: This is from an unidentified collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. Item will not be sold until it is identified. MADL95 LX8/11

CONDITION: 7- (Very Fine-): The wing shows some light to moderate wear and tarnishing.
