ARTIFACT:
Beautiful Spanish-American War commemorative USS Maine memorial plate by Baltimore Pottery Co. and is in the best condition I've ever seen. The center shows an image of the battleship coasting the ocean waters and reads: "U.S.S. BATTLESHIP MAINE DESTROYED IN HAVANA HARBOR FEB. 15 - 1898". A bald eagle soars above with a scroll in its beak that reads: "REMEMBER THE MAINE" clutching electric bolts in its talons. To the side a column shows rising smoke cloud with the number: "260" inside. Along the bottom a US Shield with stars and red and white stripes is shown in the center with a scroll along the top that reads: "IN GOD WE TRUST" and one along the bottom that reads: "E PLURIBUS UNUM". Behind the US Shield, crossed artillery, crossed swords, and a wreath of oak leaves can be seen. The outer rim of the plate shows red, white, and blue rings of color and the reverse features a maker's mark in the shape of a crown encircled by a wreath, the crown shows the letters: "B P Co." and beneath: "WARRANTED", "PATENT APPLIED FOR".

7 (Very Fine): The memorial plate shows moderate wear and light overall crazing, the colors remain bright, much of the painted details remain intact, no chips or cracks, overall excellent condition.
