This is a beautiful and rare circa 1950s Japanese-made pocket patch for the United States Army 87th Infantry Regiment. The 87th was part of the 10th Mountain Division during World War I. The patch shows a mountain with climbing gear at the center and reads VIRES MONTESQUE VINCIMUS (We overcome might and mountains).
VINTAGE:Circa 1950s.
SIZE:Approximately 4" in diameter.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Fully embroidered in cotton/silk threads, coated muslin backing.
