This is a beautiful circa late 1942 shoulder patch on velvet for the United States Army Air Forces China Air Task Force (CATF). The patch is theatre-made and shows a golden winged tiger and a silver star done in bullion. The CATF replaced the 1st American Volunteer Group (aka "Flying Tigers") and was the precursor to the 14th Air Force.
VINTAGE:Circa late 1942 (World War II).
SIZE:Approximately 2-3/4" in diameter.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Velvet embroidered in bullion and silk thread.
