ARTIFACT: Beautiful circa 1952 Clan Mackintosh (MacIntosh) Badge in Scottish silver, Edinburgh date marked 1952. The smaller sized badge features a feline in the center and reads: "TOUCH NOT THE CAT BOT A GLOVE". The correct translation of the motto is somewhat disputed, it has been said that it essentially warns others that offending you would be unwise unless they are very sure of themselves or "protect yourself at all times" (in relation to sharp cat claws)???it is said that the area that the clan resided once claimed the largest population of wildcats, hence the adoption of the cat into the crest.

VINTAGE: Circa 1952

SIZE: Approximately 1 1/8" x 1"

MATERIALS / CONSTRUCTION: Edinburgh Silver

ATTACHMENT: Horizontal 'T' pin with 'C' catch

MARKINGS: Edinburgh hallmarked.

ITEM NOTES: This is from a collection Scottish Clan badges which we will be listing more of over the next few months. MDEX15 LABEX6/15

CONDITION: 7- (Very Fine-): The badge shows moderate to heavy wear.

GUARANTEE: As with all my artifacts, this piece is guaranteed to be original, as described.
