Description
This is a great circa 1972 United States Navy ship lighter for the USS Niagara Falls AFS-A supply ship, "The Falls" was launched March 26, 196The double-sided factory-engraved lighter shows the ship on one side and a seal on the other reading "Mobile Support for Sea Power". Perhaps this lighter could have been used by famous spy, John Anthony Walker, Jr.? Chief Warrant Officer Walker served in the Niagara Falls radio room in the early 1970s and allegedly supplied information to the Soviets from the ship. His spying went on for years afterward and he is serving time in Federal prison.
VINTAGE:Circa 1972.
SIZE:Approximately 2-1/4" height and 1-3/8" width and 3/8" in thickness.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Chrome-plated brass, painted details.
ATTACHMENT:Hinge.
