This is a submarine patch for the United States Navy's USS Mariano G. Vallejo (SSBN-658), a ballistic missile submarine named after a Mexican general. The plaque shows a great bear with a nod to the symbol of the "Bear Flag Revolt" and the forerunner of California's state flag.
VINTAGE:Circa 1970s.
SIZE:Approximately 5-7/16" in diameter.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Fully embroidered in cotton/polyester threads, partial mesh backing.
ATTACHMENT:None.
