This is a 1960s United States Army distinctive insignia for the 501st Aviation Battalion. The DI is enameled in a brilliant turquoise and shows a winged circle with an eagle's head at its center. The DI reads THE WARDING EYE and there is a lightning bolt coming out of the eagle's eye.
VINTAGE:Circa 1960s.
SIZE:Approximately 1-1/8" in height and 1-1/8" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plated brass with enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Two posts.
MARKINGS:N.S. MEYER INC. NEW YORK, Meyer maker's mark, 22M.
