This is a 1960s patch for the United States Navy's USS Sam Rayburn SSBN-635, a nuclear ballistic missile submarine. Rayburn was launched from Newport News, Virginia on December 20, 1963, serving until 1989.The patch shows the Capitol dome inside a star and reads MR. SAM (Rayburn was Speaker of the House for three terms).
VINTAGE:Circa 1960s.
SIZE:Approximately 4-7/8" in diameter.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Twill embroidered in cotton/polyester threads.
