This is a 1950s distinctive insignia for the United States Army 501st Airborne Infantry Regiment. The DI is shows a mythical birdman and reads GERONIMO, the unit's motto.
VINTAGE:Circa 1950s.
SIZE:Approximately 1-1/16" in height and 15/16" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plated brass with enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Two posts with clutch-back catches.
MARKINGS:6-D.
ITEM NOTES:The DI you receive will either be the one pictured or one in similar condition. This is from a United States Army collection which we will be listing more of over the next few months. VAL90 LBHX2/11
