This is a distinctive insignia for the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington D.C. The DI is a red enameled crest showing a caduceus at its center and reads SCIENTIA INTER ARMA SPIRITUS (In the Spirit of Science and Arms).
VINTAGE:Circa 1950s.
SIZE:Approximately 1-5/16" in height 7/8" in width.
CONSTRUCTION / MATERIALS:Plated brass with enamel.
ATTACHMENT:Vertical pin with come-under locking swivel catch.
MARKINGS:N.S. MEYER INC. NEW YORK and maker's mark.
